What You'll Need :

Bentonite Clay

 - 100% Natural bentonite clay
 - Homemade rose water
 - Dried common plantain
 - Fresh lavender, or lavender oil
 - A non-metallic bowl
 - A mortar and pestle
 - A mesuring cup or spoon
 - A non-metallic ustensil
 - A small mason jar, or
   any airtight container

Bentonite clay is perfect for oily and acne-prone skin, as it removes excess sebum, sodium, oils, toxins and impurities from skin surface.

I used The Soap Works bentonine clay, which is 100% natural, vegan and cruelty free.

Rose Water

Roses have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antioxidant and antidepressant properties. They can help reduce and heal acne, irritation, dermatitis, eczema, scars, cuts and wounds, as well as streghthen and regenerate skin tissues.

Rose water is a great moisturiser as it helps hydrate and revitalise skin, all while balacing skin's Hp and controling excess oil.

Common Plantain

Common Plantain is one of those plant you propably past by, or even step on, on a daily basis. In facts there is most likely a tons of them in your yard. Usually dismissed as a weed, plantain is in reality a powerful healer.

I chose to incorpate plantain to the mask for its power to draw out toxins, heal infection and encourage the repair of damaged tissue.

This perrinal plant has a rosette of broad veined leaves and tiny greens flowers on spikes. All of its parts can be used. You can find plantain throughout spring, summer and fall.

Once harvested, dry in a shaded place.

Lavender

Lavender is well known for its calming and antidepressant properties, but is has many other benefits. One of them being its antimicrobial properties, which means that it is both antibacterial and antifungal. A strong antiseptic, Lavender heals burns, wounds, sores, and can reduce inflammation.

Instructions

1. Using mortar and pestle, make powder out of the dried plantain. If using fresh or dried lavender, crush it as well.
2. In a bowl, put as much bentonite clay as you think you will need. Add about 1 tablespoon powered plantain and crushed lavender. If using lavender oil, 2-3 drops should be enough.
3. Add the rose water to the mixture. You want enough rose water to turn the mixture into a moist muddy paste. 4. If needed, add more clay or rose water to adjust the mixture.
5. Apply on your face and let it dry for about 10 minutes. Wash away with a wet washcloth.

Store any leftover in an airtight container, and refregerate. You can apply the mask once every 1-2 weeks.
