Goldenrod Infusion:
Natural Remedy for Urinary Track Infection!
What is Goldenrod?
Also called "Woundwort" and "Blue mountain tea", Goldenrod is part of the Asteraceae family. This perennial plant is native to Europe and Asia, and was naturalized in Norh America.
How to spot it?
Goldenrod can grow up to 70 cm. It has tapered, pointed leaves and spiky stems of yellow flowers.
When, where and how
to harvest it?
Goldenrod can be harvested in summer and early fall. It grows in fields, along roadsides and sometimes in forests. Only the aerial parts should be used. Once gathered, let dry in a shaded space.
When harvesting any plants, only take what you need. Make sure to leave some behind.

When I first started to harvest my own herbs and learn about herbal medecine, Goldenrod was one of the first plant I noticed. This yellow flower grows abundantly in summer fields, and is therefore very easy to find. Since then Goldenrod quickly became a favourite in my family and a "must have" in our pantry. I always make sure to stuck up on it before winter!
Over the last two years, I had the chance to test this simple remedy many times. Whenever a loved one suffers from an Urinary Track Infection, I make them this infusion, and Goldenrod never fails to deliver it's herbal magic!
Make your own infusion in two simple steps:
1. In a tea infuser, place 2 tablespoons of dried Goldenrod. Place the infuser in a cup.
2. Fill the cup with boiling water, and let it infuse for 8 to 10 minutes. When ready, remove the infuser and drink up!
You can usually feel it's healing effects after as quickly as 15-20 minutes! For more effective result, drink up to 3 cups a day.
